Welcome to Suncook River Aviary. The Gouldian Finch is an incredibly striking bird, the colors on the males are so bright that they rival any parrot. They are quiet and the male sings a beautiful song. They are quick fliers and like to jump around the cage. They are also easy to care for, needing about a 30x18x18 Cage(as a minimum), so they can excercise. Change the paper every couple of days, provide crushed oyster shell, a quality finch seed, mini pellets, eggfood and change the water daily and they should do fine. Millet Spray is cherished but they tend to forget the other food, so feed the millet sparingly. They do fine at room temperature. Provide a full spectrum fluorescent bulb(5500k) from HomeDepot and light about 12 hours a day. All are bred indoors in individual cages and are fed a quality diet and given fresh water daily. Records are kept and the birds are banded. Member of NFSS, BOAF.
